Saturday 5th June 2021
3pm
Adult £8.00 + £0.67 booking fee
Child £6.00 + £0.50 booking fee
Online workshops will be held on Zoom.

A wildlife drawing workshop focusing on animals from the African savannah. Take an armchair safari learning to draw lions, elephants, zebra and more! The class will begin with an introduction from Tutor Bethany Y Milam who will take you through some basic drawing exercises. There will then be drawing demonstrations focusing on proportion and anatomy and Bethany will be on hand to answer questions, give creative advice and add in the occasional animal fact throughout the whole session.

The Animal references will be on screen during the session and so it is recommended that you use a device with a good-sized screen. The session will last approximately two hours. There will be plenty of time to ask questions and I will make some time for individual feedback on your artwork at the end of each session (allow another 15 mins on class time if you would like feedback). The session will be recorded and a link to the recording will be available to attendees after the event.

Chat and Sketch – Vermeer’s ‘The Milkmaid’
Thursday 3rd June 2021

Online workshop will be held on Zoom.

This interactive session will start with a short talk introducing you to the painting ‘The Milkmaid’ by Johannes Vermeer, there will then be an open discussion and time to ask questions about the artwork. Throughout the session there will be drawing exercises led by the tutor to help you explore the painting by creating your own sketches. This will be a friendly and informal event where you can chat about art as you enjoy sketching together. If you would like to show your drawings at the end of the session, there will be time to do this although there is no pressure to do so. The session will last approximately one and a half hours.

This month I was given the sad news that the Hurst will no longer be offering its Adult and Leisure courses, as the department is closing.  As I say farewell after 8 years Tutoring with them, I am already looking into other options, so that I can continue offering quality art classes to a wide audience.

I know that many of you may have been looking forward to the upcoming evening courses and so I am happy to offer a six week Portrait Drawing Course plus occasional Monday evening workshops.
Portrait Drawing Course

Wednesday Evenings, 7pm – 9pm
9th June – 14th July 2021 (6 weeks)
£55.00

Working in graphite pencils, charcoal and coloured pencils, this engaging course will cover the main elements involved in portrait drawing from quick sketches to finished drawings. We will look at proportions, features, tone, colour and a variety of drawing techniques over 6 weeks.

All abilities are welcome from complete beginners to those looking for tips on how to improve their portrait drawings. The lessons will involve demonstrations you can draw along to, as well as warm up exercises and experimental studies. You will be able to work from photographs or use a mirror for self-portraits. At the end of each session there will be limited time for one-to-one feedback.

These Live lessons will be held on zoom. You can use a computer, tablet, or iPad to join the live meetings.

You will be provided with a materials list, reference photos, class notes and resources by email. If you do not have any of the materials on these lists, please do ask and I will be happy to adapt activities for you.
